The Dell 2145cn is a robust, well-featured office multifunction printer. Assuming the problems we saw with printing files from USB drives were isolated to this sample, it's duplexing abilities make it stand out from most of the competition at the price. It's reasonably quick and produces good black text, though colours can be on the gaudy side.

PC World‘s review Edit

The Dell 2145cn color laser multifunction printer (MFP) offers some useful features for a midrange price ($749 at this writing), and the quality of its installation and documentation show how much Dell cares about the user experience. The machine's design makes it difficult to use, however, and it performed very slowly.

This is a very versatile multifunction printer, which can produce all kinds of simplex and duplex copies, as well as faxes and scans. Although we had some problem printing from USB, this may relate to particular brands of drive. You could make considerable paper savings with this machine, though print costs themselves are higher than average.

Dell's 2145cn Multifunction Colour Laser Printer is designed for a busy workgroup, but there are several choices available that are faster and easier to operate; and some may have a lower price tag.
