Sony DSC-T99 Pro Reviews

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

So is it time to approach the desk of your local camera emporium and utter the phrase 'make mine a T99'? If you're looking for an easy to use and very dinky digital compact with a smattering of style and a cherry pick of the latest technological must haves (3D shooting aside, look to the TX9 or WX5 for that), then you could certainly do worse.

The Imaging Resource‘s review Edit

At $249 or less, the Sony T99 is an excellent little carry-everywhere camera. There a few drawbacks, but if you're looking for a compact, attractive digicam that captures good photos with accurate colors, then by all means pick it up. I like the Sony T99's 25mm wide-angle lens, the touch-screen interface, solid image stabilization, Sweep Panoramas and decent MP4 videos. The Sony T99 is a good buy for producing decent snapshots from a pocket, take-anywhere digital camera; just keep print sizes below 8x10 for best results.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

Just small/large enough for usability not to suffer unduly, the T99 feels like good value for its asking price if all you want to do is take the occasional snap. Inevitably there are better performing examples out there for just £50 more – including Sony’s own Cyber-shot DSC-WX5 that adds Full HD video, 3D Sweep Panorama (to the T99’s 2D variety), bright lens and an Exmor sensor. The pictures from this camera are a lot better in comparison. That said if all you really do want to do is point and shoot and get fair quality results with minimal fuss and without spending a fortune, then the T99 should be more rather more satisfactory.

expertreviews‘s review Edit

The T99 is typical of the current crop of mid-price ultra-compact cameras. £200 is far from mid-price, though. The touchscreen has clearly bumped up the price, but image quality and performance have been left far behind.
