Acer Aspire One D255 Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

A well-designed netbook with solid performance and battery life, although Android seems like an unnecessary inclusion.

A bit more expensive than some netbooks, but this good-looking, relatively powerful model is good value – just make sure you get the right model

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Portability is excellent and the 389 minute battery life and 1.2kg weight are impressive, again making it ideal for the regular traveller. As mentioned above, you can choose to run either Windows 7 or Google Android OS. Fortunately, the Acer Aspire One D255 does the basics very well, making this an incredibly usable and portable option. We're just not convinced about the inclusion of Android, however.

ITreviews‘s review Edit

As with most of the Aspire One range, the D255 is a relatively fast and efficient netbook with the added bonus of a new dual-core CPU and a comfortably large keyboard. However, the battery life is low, and the ‘hook' of having an Android OS alongside Windows 7 Starter may only have limited appeal.

PC Pro‘s review Edit

The D255 is a competent netbook, but with so many other similar models jostling for pole position it doesn’t do enough in terms of style or performance to stand out from the pack.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

The Acer Aspire One D255 isn’t the best looking netbook out there, but like Acer netbooks we’ve seen in the past, it does incorporate some of the newest hardware at a price that’s hard to beat.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

The Acer Aspire One D255 sells for a price of £293 For that price you get a decent 10-inch netbook with a fresh new look, standard performance and features, and excellent battery life. And the Acer Aspire One D255 does come with Android 1.6 which boots within seconds. The netbook doesn't come with extra features like face-recognition tool (like on the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3) or greater RAM or hard drive (like the MSI Wind U160). But if you want a no-nonsense netbook with all the essentials covered at the most inexpensive price-point, buy the Acer Aspire One D255.

Notebookcheck‘s review Edit

Dual core is moving into Netbooks. That the battery run times don't shorten as a result, and instead increase is shown by our tested device. Why the mobility nevertheless casts a shadow can be discovered in this review.

SlashGear‘s review Edit

There are always compromises to be made when you build to a budget, and Acer has done well with the Aspire One D255 in order to avoid the netbook feeling unduly cheap or underpowered. With a street price of $329.99 it’s affordable and offers decent longevity away from the mains. Anybody with ambitions beyond basic browsing and media playback should look to something more powerful, but for mainstream use the D255 is perfectly sufficient.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

Available in a wide range of colours, this compact and well-built Acer netbook offers not only dual-core computing but also the unique advantage of switching between Android and Windows 7 at will. Unfortunately, both Acer's Android 2.1 implementation and the D255's battery life in this configuration leave much to be desired, so at its current price you're probably better off looking elsewhere.

Among the latest dual-core Atom netbooks, the Acer Aspire One AOD255-1203 is the most inexpensive.

computershopper‘s review Edit

This low-cost netbook stands out for its dual-core CPU, though the speed boost over a single-core chip isn't huge. Still, it's a good choice for those who need to squeak out a little more performance within a very tight budget.

LAPTOP Magazine‘s review Edit

At $349, the Acer Aspire One D255 has a reasonable price and long battery life. And while the dual-core Atom N550 processor doesn't blow us away, we appreciate the modest performance gains. However, these small gains are offset by a very jumpy cursor and pestering trialware. Although some competitors don't last as long on a charge, in this price range we prefer the Samsung N150 Plus ($349) for its matte display and more responsive keyboard, and the Toshiba NB255 ($289), which has a better touchpad. If you're willing to spend more for a much better keyboard and touchpad, check out the Toshiba NB305 ($399).
