Optoma HD20 Pro Reviews

www.hometheater.com‘s review Edit

With a native resolution of 1920x1080, the HD20 can display virtually all Blu-rays and most HD broadcast channels without scaling, which is why I recommend 1080p displays even for small screen sizes. As with all single-chip DLP displays, you might see what's commonly called "rainbow artifacts" in scenes with bright highlights on dark backgrounds—if you move your eyes around while viewing such a scene, you might see momentary rainbows near the bright highlights. Some viewers are more susceptible to this than others.

Size doesn't matter: this diminutive Optoma just about keeps in touch with the big boys

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The Optoma HD20 brings a new level of affordability to 1080p projectors, with reasonably good image quality for 480p signals and above.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Despite these criticisms, I'd have no qualms about recommending the HD20 to someone looking to step up from flatscreen to projection on a tight budget– it represents great value for money.

Audioholics‘s review Edit

We can't stress enough that the price of this 1080p projector is just amazing. For under a grand you have the ability to get a great big picture for less than the price of a flatscreen at one quarter the size. While it isn't the only sub-$1k projector on the block, the cheaper bulb replacement may win out over the quieter Vivitek H1080FD.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

If you've read the main review carefully, you'll have noticed that pretty much every time I've praised the HD20, it's been along the lines of it being better than expected for its money, rather than suggesting that it represents the last word in projection excellence.

ProjectorCentral‘s review Edit

The HD20 brings 1080p projection to its lowest price point yet, while maintaining great image quality that's ideal for home entertainment. While it does not have the inky black levels and extreme placement flexibility of more costly projectors, it does have a clear, bright, noise-free image with vibrant color and good dynamic range. For some viewers, its 4x-speed color wheel is more likely to induce an occasional rainbow than DLP projectors with faster wheels, but it is head and shoulders above the standard 2x wheel designs, and quite acceptable for the money.

Bright Hub‘s review Edit

The Optoma HD20 is available with a whole array of online dealers and all those doing business in home theatres, cameras and other such equipment. If you are looking for a highly affordable data projector to use to project images or videos or for use as a home theatre, the Optoma HD20 is a model you can look at for its price which is in the $1000 range. It is a 1080p projector.
