AMD Phenom II X3 710 Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

The 710 runs at 2.6GHz compared with the 720's 2.8GHz, while the 720's Black Edition name indicates an unlocked multiplier, which will interest overclockers. The higher clock speed helped in our benchmarks, giving the 720 a slight advantage over the 710.

motherboards‘s review Edit

The AMD Phenom II X3 710 is an interesting beast of a CPU. It is the second fastest triple core CPU that AMD has to offer. One of the good things about using the AMD platform is that the new CPUs will generally work on older chipsets as the interface is the same meaning that you can upgrade the CPU on a motherboard without buying a new motherboard assuming the manufacturer has updated BIOS that supports the new CPU.

phoronix‘s review Edit

If you note the tests where the AMD performance was close or where it had outperformed the Core i7 920 when overclocked, the AMD Phenom II delivers better price-per-performance than the Intel Core i7. Pushing the Phenom II X3 710 to 3.51GHz was very easy and with the right cooling and tweaking it could be pushed even further. Even if you are not interested in overclocking, chances are you too can probably enable your fourth processing core from the BIOS.
