ASUS RT-N16 Pro Reviews

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

The Asus RT-N16 is a great, fun router for networking enthusiasts who want to use it with third-party open-source firmware, such as Tomato or DD-WRT. However, everyone else should wait until Asus provides a more stable version of the firmware.

Digital Trends‘s review Edit

The Asus RT-N16 has some great features, including one of the best user interfaces we’ve seen in a wireless router. It’s a speed demon at close range, too - delivering the fastest TCP/IP throughput we’ve recorded with the wireless client located 20 feet from the router.

ASUS is certainly coming along with their home networking products. We are very impressed with how they have improved both their UI and the overall performance. There are still some items that need to be addressed, though. On the RT-N16 there was no way to change the MCS to get more performance or to correct for interference of other nearby wireless equipment. We also would like to see the ability to change the alternate channel in the wireless settings.

The simple user interface of the RT-N16 wireless router might put off a few users that find it patronising but they're missing out. All the functions you're likely to need, and more, are easy to control and if you need to get to them, more advanced options aren't hard to find. Products like this should 'just work' and that's what the RT-N16 does.

benchmarkreviews‘s review Edit

The RT-N16 is a very well made piece of equipment as with all things of the ASUS legacy. A great choice of lightweight materials and clever design not only on the hardware but also in the software as well. Functionality is where the ASUS RT-N16 comes into its own, from the super easy setup to the in-depth advanced configuration settings, there isn't much that you could want from a router that the RT-N16 doesn't do.
