MSI GT627 Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

The GT627 has the quad-core performance and gaming muscle to rival the desktop-replacement laptops in last month's group test. All it really lacks is a full-HD screen to complement the Blu-ray drive. If you're looking for a powerful laptop that isn't too huge, this fits the bill.

AnandTech‘s review Edit

In terms of balance, the MSI GT627 does just about everything right. It has a great set of features and performance, at a great price point. The combination of CPU, GPU, hard drive, and memory works extremely well. A few areas could use improvements, but for $1100 we're willing to cut MSI some slack. The closest competition is the Gateway P-7805u.

The MSI GT627-218US is a perfect gaming solution for cash-strapped gamers on the move, because the powerful Nvidia graphics card delivers smooth frames at a budget price.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

With the questionable design choices and awkward usability conflicting with the impressive power and specifications, the MSI GT627 is quite a tough-sell. If you're seeking an eye-catching gaming laptop on a budget, it has plenty to offer, but it is far from perfect.

HotHardware‘s review Edit

MSI had to cut a few corners in order to deliver the GT627 for well under $1,200. The most notable concessions are the screen resolution and the keyboard quality. Overall, the rewards outweigh the imperfections at this price point though. Gamers will certainly appreciate the machine’s graphics card, dual core processor, and ample system memory. When you’re not gaming, the GT627’s HDMI and eSATA ports and the SuperMulti DVD drive can provide multimedia entertainment.

NotebookReview‘s review Edit

Overall the MSI GT627 proved to be a fast gaming notebook with good looks but showed room for improvement in terms of build quality. The keyboard felt springy and didn’t have much support and the palmrest showed considerable flex. Gaming performance is where this notebook showed its true colors, with high benchmarks and good in-game performance. The Turbo feature while sounding somewhat gimmicky did show good results in some gaming situations

The MSI GT627 offers good 3D performance and easy overclocking at a reasonable price, but its low-resolution screen and short battery life are a letdown.

As usual, MSI provides a laptop which while not without its share of flaws does provide good value. A strong all-rounder, the GT627 offers quad-core processing, 9800-series graphics, a slightly above average screen and decent battery life, as well as an attractive set of extras that include a bag and competent gaming mouse. This leaves just the questionable styling, which admittedly is quite a hurdle, but if you're prepared to be pragmatic there's plenty to enjoy here.

Notebookcheck‘s review Edit

When looking for a compact gaming notebook, given the often restricted graphics card performance in the 15" market, there is a big risk of just giving up. The fact that the Geforce 9600M GT so commonly provided can be outdone, even in this mid range of machines, is proved by MSI with its GT627. Equipped with a Geforce 9800M GS graphics card, this compact laptop can handle even the most recent gaming titles with ease.
