HP StorageWorks X510 Data Vault Pro Reviews

PC Pro‘s review Edit

Compared with NAS appliances such as Netgear's ReadyNAS NVX, the X510 comes up short in the features department, and it also has a lot of extraneous multimedia toys. However, if you want totally automated workstation backup plus easy to use disaster recovery functions then this is worth considering.

ITreviews‘s review Edit

Although it does much the same job as network attached storage appliances from companies such as Buffalo, Netgear and Synology, HP's X510 Data Vault isn't based on Linux. Rather it's a re-badged implementation of the vendor's MediaSmart server running Windows Home Server. That makes it a little harder to setup and manage, with support for just 10 clients, each of which needs special connector software. Lack of RAID support is another issue but it performs well, comes with automated client backup and recovery tools and, pricewise, compares well against similar capacity NAS alternatives.
