MSI Wind U123 Pro Reviews

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

In the end, the MSI Wind U123 will receive compliments on its sleek looks from coffee-shop hipsters. After all, the U123's exterior is eye-catching - even sexy, considering the glossy deep-blue finish of our review model. Look a little closer, however, and this netbook rates as fairly average.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

Overall the U123 could use more of a lift, as its performance scores fell well short of the competition, and everything else is just middle of the road.

netbooked.net‘s review Edit

The MSI Wind U123 does really well with the important features: an excellent keyboard and display that is relatively quiet and gets up to 6.5 hours on a single charge, but is marred but many more minor flaws: You can’t place it in your lap properly, upgrading your internals voids your warranty, no built-in touchpad scrolling capability and the microphone volumes were barely audible. Some of these flaws look like they will be fixed with firmware updates but the warranty issue will be a deal breaker for most.

Digital Trends‘s review Edit

MSI’s Wind U123 is a solid value. It’s not the fastest netbook we’ve tested or the lightest one we’ve hefted, but its specs are definitely respectable and it boasts a number of excellent features, including a bright and gorgeous display. The oversized battery adds a lot of bulk to the package, but you’ll forget about that the first time you’re able to work an entire day without having to plug into an AC outlet.

Though most of the MSI Wind U123's specs follow the standard netbook formula, its incredible battery life makes it a standout.

MSI’s latest netbook packs a slightly faster Atom processor and a nine-cell battery that outruns the competition.

Maximum PC‘s review Edit

MSI’s latest venture into the netbook market offers slightly faster performance than the rest of the netbooks we’ve tested with much longer battery life to boot, but the nine-cell battery that makes that possible sends the MSI Wind U123 into the heavyweight range. It makes us wonder: How heavy can a netbook become before it stops really being a netbook? Do we buy them for their formfactor or their performance? Or is it just the price?
