The DIR-655 router didn’t prove completely up to my expectations. For a top-end model, it lacks functionality. Although I think the price of $145 is somewhat too high for this model, yet the DIR-655 is a good buy. I would recommend it for a small office due to its network security options, QoS, and remote administration tools. And the exterior design of this device would look better in the office than in the home environment.

Although the D-Link DIR-655 Wireless N Gigabit Router may not be the best looking router, it certainly offers great value for money. It is also easy to set up and manage, making a great all-round package for first-time users in particular.

You no longer have to wait for the Draft N specification to become final—D-Link's DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit Router delivers solid performance and some neat features. It costs a bit more than most wireless routers out there, however.

Wireless performance still remains unimpressive but the DIR-655 is offering a lot for your money. In our view, if you want the best wireless performance and Gigabit ports to boot then Netgear’s WRN854T is the one to go for but if you want superior features then choose D-Link.

While its drive and printer sharing features have serious limitations, the D-Link DIR-655 would be one of our top picks even without them, thanks to its low price, great performance, easy setup, and handy guest access mode.
