Logitech Revue Pro Reviews

SlashGear‘s review Edit

There’s no denying that Google TV – and the Logitech Revue – has potential. Unfortunately, much of that potential is currently only part delivered on. The downside to Google TV’s all-encompassing compatibility is that it can feel decidedly average across the board, rather than a close-knit experience with just a few devices. DISH Network support is, right now, the pinnacle of Revue integration, and even that feels half-hearted. Temperamental browsing is not what we expect from a device which positions the search experience as its core strength, and nor are patchy search results.

Engadget‘s review Edit

Overall, the Revue is the box you want if you're interested in putting Google TV in your living room. It's not perfect, but it's solid, although we'd like to see the cost go down: at $300 with a complicated and lengthy setup, the Revue is very much an enthusiast's device, and we think most enthusiasts interested in the features of Google TV are better served with a cheap PC connected to their HDTVs at the moment. Drop things down a price bracket and it's a whole different story, however -- the Revue looks like no-brainer for Dish Network customers at $179, even with the $4 monthly "integration fee."

The Logitech Revue brings Google search and Web browsing to your HDTV, along with media streaming and optional videoconferencing, but it's underpowered and pricey.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

Overall, I liked a lot about the Logitech Revue, particularly its keyboard, its support for Web browsing on a big screen, its ability to stream media on my network, its search functionality (some aspects of that, anyway), and its videoconferencing support. If you're hoping for a box that will let you abandon your existing cable or satellite service, however, the Revue will disappoint. Its puzzling search feature and its inability to play TV-network content online (even if that isn't the Revue's fault) are serious flaws--and for $300, I'd want these issues addressed.

LAPTOP Magazine‘s review Edit

The simple truth is that Google TV isn't for users who want to cut the cable cord; it's for those who want to enhance their current TV experience. The Logitech Revue does that, but it needs to go further. Judging by hardware alone, the Revue is impressive for its speed, search capabilities, and neat picture-in-picture feature for multitaskers. This box is definitely worth a look for those who want all the multimedia benefits they can cram into a TV without having to deal with a desktop OS. However, there's still a long way to go in term of content selection and adding additional apps. Right now $299 is a lot to pay for potential.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

The Logitech Revue with Google TV is loaded with potentially game-changing functionality, but its high price, numerous caveats, and current assortment of bugs make it best-suited to early adopters--at least until promised firmware fixes become available.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

Not as seamless as Apple TV, but armed with far more potential, the Logitech Revue with Google TV is a giant, if occasionally shaky, leap forward in home entertainment.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

There's nothing better than plopping down on the couch and zoning out to the TV while cruising YouTube or searching the Internet from a laptop, and let's face it, that’s what most of us do these days. As an American with some serious attention problems, I'm really drawn to the "dual search" functionality that lets you keep a TV program on the screen while searching the Internet for related (or unrelated) content. The feature simply refines the way I already watch TV and absorb content, which is very welcomed.
