Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 Pro Reviews

ITreviews‘s review Edit

All things considered, we can't really recommend the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8. There are a lot of Android handsets hovering around this pricepoint, so explore further before taking the plunge.

GSMArena‘s review Edit

Let’s face it: the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8 misses the wow factor. It has something else instead – a fair price and a well balanced set of features. Can’t be so bad now, can it? Unfortunately, it can. And while the competition isn’t too hard at least for a while, Sony Ericsson are damaging their own prospects by taking too long with the Android upgrades.

The X8 has some clever features, but it can't match Motorola’s Defy on contract. It’s a good choice on prepay, though.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 is in some ways quite an impressive device. It has all the features of a fully-fledged smartphone yet is smaller and considerably cheaper than most. However, it somehow doesn't quite all come together with it being compromised on performance yet not small enough to justify being so. It's not bad, just not brilliant, and there are better cheap Android smartphones out there.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 works as a phone and is good for music and web use, but offering an out-of-date version of Android and an unresponsive screen it's best left to bargain-hunters only.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 has a good design and a decent set of features; it's also one of the best looking mid-range Android phones. However, the rather sluggish performance, slightly small screen size (3in) and outdated OS (Android 1.6) put the phone behind its rivals.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 never really steps away from the problems that have hampered other Sony Ericsson Android devices this year. The out-dated version of the Android operating system means you miss out on the performance gains and the features that rival devices are offering. But the biggest challenge that the X8 faces is against similar priced, and similar specced, devices that simply offer more.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 is a very stylish offering that finds a pretty good balance between being compact and functional at the same time. We like its design and interface and believe there's a pretty decent chunk of the market that will find it great. It is pretty decent for almost all kinds of tasks, but doesn't excel in anything, which is normal for a budget handset. Our main gripes with it are the lack of multi-touch and the poor quality of the camera, but if can put up with these, you'll end up with a pretty decent all-round smartphone package in your hands. Moreover, it will come in a stylish white body, with some great personalization options in the form of the additional back panels.

GSMArena‘s review Edit

High-end touch phones are the attention grabbers, but it’s mid-rangers that make the cash register ring. And the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8 offers a compelling package at an attractive price – what we’ve heard so far is the X8 will be priced around 200 euro (250 US dollars).

At this point however, we don't think it will be able to fulfill the needs of power internet users, because of the downright poor navigation in the browser.
