Samsung WB5000 Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

The WB5000 competes directly with the excellent Panasonic FZ38, and puts up an impressive fight. They’re neck and neck for image quality; the Samsung’s zoom range is bigger but the Panasonic’s lens is sharper. Samsung loses ground in terms of performance and battery life, though, which is enough to keep the Panasonic in the lead.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

With rugged DSLR-like handling, yet easy to use the Samsung WB5000 is a compact camera with 24x zoom; one-touch video recording and a zoom that's accessible even when filming movies. The operational sound of the zoom is picked up during video recording, the focal range is more modest than those of direct competitors, and there's no HDMI output, but we like the Samsung WB5000.

reghardware‘s review Edit

The WB5000 is packed with intelligent user-friendly features and impressive specifications. Unfortunately, the image quality and general performance of this new model are disappointing. If you need an all-rounder with a broader than average superzoom this could be a sensible camera choice, but if you are at all serious about photography, the WB5000 simply won’t do.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

The "DSLR lite" WB5000 has been out a little while, so in theory you should be able to find more competitive deals than the £299 asking price. The fact that the lowest cost we could find online at the time of writing was £279 suggests the camera has pretty much held its value, perhaps because it still offers the best range among its manufacturer's compact family.

If you're in need of a superzoom that performs well across the board with manual modes, a direct video button and reasonable lens quality then this is a decent camera to get.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

For a first attempt at a superzoom camera the WB5000 is a very good camera. Design and build quality are excellent, it a list of features comparable with its market rivals, and like most Samsung cameras it is competitively priced. Its only weak points are its overall performance and its mediocre image quality.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

The Samsung WB5000 is one of those cameras that turns out to be better on paper than it is in the flesh, offering a compelling list of features that turn out to be rather half-baked. That's not to say that it's a bad camera, particularly for novice users, but more experienced snappers attracted by the manual shooting and RAW mode will be disappointed by the WB5000.
