Samsung Galaxy 5 Pro Reviews

ITreviews‘s review Edit

The Samsung Galaxy Europa i5500 is an impressive handset considering its price. The camera is poor, and the absence of multi touch support is disappointing, but overall if your budget is around £200 and you want Android, you could do a lot worse.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

For people just entering the smartphone (or touchscreen phone, for that matter) universe, the Samsung Galaxy 5 is a great stepping stone, and even worth having around as a backup phone. As alternatives we would point out the LG Optimus GT540, or the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8, which step it up with a bigger 3” screen, 3MP camera, and better codec support (GT540), but run an older version of Android.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

There's no getting away from the fact that the Samsung Galaxy Europa is a fairly average mobile phone. The tiny screen with its low resolution and the poor camera don't do much to help its cause. However, the inclusion of a capacitive touchscreen is something of a boon on a phone in this price range so we have to give credit for that. And although the design might not win any awards, it's not bad either and the phone is certainly compact. However, there are better phones around at a similar price point, such as the HTC Wildfire.

The big downer with the GT-i5500 is the fact that Samsung hasn’t added in multi-touch support, despite the fact that the display uses capacitive technology. Nevertheless, the phone remains a tempting option if you can’t afford the multi-touch enabled GT-I5801, as the screen is very responsive and it feels speedy to use. It certainly trashes similarly priced rivals like the Vodafone 845.

GSMArena‘s review Edit

The Samsung I5500 Galaxy 5 is the future. OK, now, take your time. Laugh it up. But it looks like the term smartphone is about to become meaningless. It won’t be too long before they are all just phones again – like in the good old times. The Samsung I5500 Galaxy 5 is the right sort of step – slow and cautious – into a world where every phone is a smartphone. And it seems pretty obvious that Android is the right OS.

Geeky Gadgets‘s review Edit

Overall the Samsung Galaxy Europa is a decent budget smartphone, it has a good range of features, a decent web browser, and you have access to a wide range of applications through the Android market. One thing that lets it down is the camera, we would have expected something more than 2 megapixels, but then again it is a budget smartphone.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

Still, we believe the Samsung Galaxy 5 I5500 has a sporting chance of finding its own place of comfort on the market of affordable, Android-based handsets. It is appealing, comfortable to hold in your hand and comes with SNS, GPS, Wi-Fi and interface that is definitely different from the boring and simple stock Android.
