Sony VAIO VPC-Y21S1E Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

Decent performance and battery life make the Y21 a great travelling companion, but you pay a huge premium for the brand.

For build, design and features, this Sony ahs the clear edge over most little laptops at tis price, yet it also holds its own in performance and battery life. If you don’t need the last word in power but do demand a laptop that won’t weigh you down, the Sony VAIO Y21 is a great choice.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

We were impressed by the portability of Sony's new Y Series laptop, and it's refreshing to see an ultraportable at such an affordable price. However, the flawed build quality and subdued performance are real turn-offs, and make this a difficult laptop to recommend. If power isn't a priority, the VAIO VPCY is worth considering alongside the excellent Asus UL20A. However, if your budget can stretch to it, we highly recommend the Fujitsu Lifebook P770 or Sony VAIO VPCZ11Z9E/B, which pack a lot more power into a similarly light and compact chassis.

Notebookcheck‘s review Edit

Graphic card? I don't need one. Those who agree with this opinion and concentrate on the really important issues, might take a liking to the Vaio Y21S1E for 770 euro. The ULV components, like Intel Pentium U5400 (1.2 GHz) and DDR3 RAM and the 5000 mAh battery prompt the 13.3 incher to a good battery life (WLAN almost six hours). The Vaio doesn't come close to the top mobility rates of some competitor subnotebooks (Asus UL30A, WLAN) with 7:25 hours, though. An even stronger battery would have been needed for this.

A gorgeous, light and long-lasting ultraportable, but it's far pricier than the competition
