LACIE LaCinema Mini HD Pro Reviews

ITreviews‘s review Edit

Lacie has done a nice job with the latest addition to its LaCinema range and while cheaper rivals such as the Western Digital WDTV Live are far better at offering access to online content, few offer built-in wireless and an internal drive so effectively moulded into a sleek and portable enclosure. If these are the kind of features you're looking for, the LaCinema Mini HD will not disappoint.

reghardware‘s review Edit

We were impressed by the MiniHD’s versatile playback abilities, and support for a wide range of audio and video file formats. The browser interface is flawed, but is still better than that found in a number of the network media players that we’ve reviewed recently. Our only other complaint is that it’s quite expensive, given that it only has a 500GB hard disk. So while the MiniHD is certainly an improvement on its predecessors, it’s not quite the home run we were hoping for.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

These faults aside we were very pleased with the performance of the Mini HD, and since issues of this nature can (and have been, with rivals devices in the past) be fixed with firmware updates, we’d hope that Lacie takes advantage of this opportunity in the future. As it stands, £250 is quite a lot to pay for the LaCinema Mini, especially considering the aforementioned WDTV Live is available for less than half this price, albeit forgoing built-in wireless and an internal drive.
