Playing everything from John Lennon's Oh Yoko! to Carl Orff's Gassenhauer, the Teufels overstate low frequencies to a senseless degree. Any nuance or detail lurking in the midrange is comprehensively swamped by the AC9050PHs overblown bass end. And those bass notes are not only overstated, they're pudgy and ill-defined too. At least there's no hint of aggression to the top end, but that's not enough to drag the Teufels into contention

It's fair to say that Teufel's first attempt at a set of headphones is a grand success. The AC 9050 PH 'phones are lightweight, solid, comfortable, versatile and perform really well, so we'd highly recommend them to anyone looking for a wired set of over-ear headphones to enjoy the latest games or music in the home.

The Teufel AC 9050 PHs are very well constructed headphones that are priced to please. We’ll be sticking with our fold-up Sennheisers for on-the-road listening though.

When listening to music, bass frequencies are well defined and punchy, but higher frequencies lack definition, making these headphones great for gaming, action movies and urban music, but not for true audiophile performance.

In the AC 9050 PHs, Teufel has created one of our favourite set of everyday headphones. There are better choices for at-home listening where open-back headphones come into play but, for closed-back phones, these reproduce most genres of music to a satisfactory level and excel at some. They're also comfortable, block out a decent amount of noise, and have some neat design touches. Most significantly, though, they're available for a quite incredible price.
