Lenovo IdeaPad s10-2 Pro Reviews

ITreviews‘s review Edit

Lenovo has updated its ten-inch Atom netbook with a handful of minor changes to the hardware and a major change to the software in the shape of Windows 7 Starter Edition. Although we can see why Lenovo has made the switch to Microsoft's latest OS, we're not the least bit convinced that it is suitable for Intel graphics and a 10.1-inch screen.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The S10-2 is a 10-inch netbook that does little to impress and is better off taking a pass on. The 10-inch widescreen, smaller-than-average keyboard, and slightly bloated price tag aren't game changing at all.

SlashGear‘s review Edit

Battery life is good, but not the best, and performance from the Intel Atom processor is just as you’d find from every other Atom netbook out there. If you simply have to buy a 10.1-inch generic Atom N270 netbook, and you have $349.99 to spend, the Lenovo S10-2 should be on your shortlist.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Overall, the IdeaPad S10-2 is a decent netbook and, while its slightly fiddly user interface does detract from the overall experience, there should be enough here to attract most buyers.

LAPTOP Magazine‘s review Edit

While this netbook has an excellent screen and good performance, its keyboard and endurance could stand some improvement.

Liliputing‘s review Edit

The Lenovo IdeaPad S10-2 is a compact 10 inch netbook that gets reasonably good battery life and offers decent performance. Lenovo includes a handful of utilities including facial recognition software, backup and restore software, and QuickBoot which may be appealing to some users. Personally, I really like the OneKey Recovery software but don’t have much use for the other two applications. Your results (and opinions) may vary.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

Lenovo's popular IdeaPad S10 Netbook has been slimmed down and its price reduced, making it a better Netbook--as long as you can live without ExpressCard.

The Lenovo IdeaPad S10-2 is a total surprise for me. I wasn’t expecting this netbook to perform so well. The S10-2’s best features are it’s sound quality, compact size, great touchpad and lack of noise. Three things to watch out for: The S10-2 gets hot, the 6-cell battery sticks out and the small keyboard.

HotHardware‘s review Edit

The S10-2 is a great option for those in the market for a new 10.1" netbook today. We have reason to believe that Windows 7 netbooks, which can finally skip Microsoft's tough hardware limitations that are keeping WinXP netbooks from progressing, will be much better options when the OS debuts in October, but there are still a few months to go before that occurs. If you have an original S10, there's no need whatsoever to upgrade. If you're looking for a new standard 10.1" netbook, however, the S10-2 deserves a serious look. It has one of the nicest keyboards we've used, performance was great given the hardware within and the battery life was stupendous.

NotebookReview‘s review Edit

The Lenovo IdeaPad S10-2 performed quite well in our tests, showing consistently better results that the previous model. The design looks much cleaner than before, and with the black color scheme, at least, the netbook is visually excellent. Battery life was improved, no doubt due to the large extended battery that sticks out behind and below, giving us over 7 hours in out battery test. The S10-2 handled 480p and 720p video without too many problems, but 1080p video was too much to ask for from the Intel Atom N270 and GMA950 chipset.

Register Hardware‘s review Edit

Performance is just as you would expect from an Atom netbook: ie. feeble but adequate, and we managed 3hrs 14mins of movie playback before the battery gave up the ghost. While Lenovo has succeeded in delivering one of the first Atom netbook that comes loaded with Windows 7, it's a backwards step as far as we are concerned.

Lenovo S10-2 is a very passable netbook that works well; it's just boring. It works, has good battery life and is relatively attractive. But despite those things, it utterly failed to move me at all.

This netbook delivers solid features for the price. Evolutionary rather than revolutionary innovations quietly make it one of the better 10-inch-screened models for users looking for a value-priced netbook.
