You’re spoiled for choice where iPod docks are concerned, but this is a poor example.

There's not much wrong with the iMT702 inMotion Max. The clever packaging makes it easily portable and the built-in battery frees it up from dependence on mains power. The sound quality is good for a product which sits in a category that's really more focused on convenience than absolute audio competence. It's just a shame that Altec didn't think of making it double up as a speakerphone.

Sound quality is rarely the prerogative of products like this and the Altec Lansing inMotion Max is no different. However, in light of its performance and its price, it's hard not to be a little disappointed by it. It's a solid option if it does what you want, but it could have been better.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

Of the small format docks we've seen though, the inMotion MAX iMT702 gives a good account of itself (minus a few grumbles) in terms of sound performance. The volume is respectable too - certainly loud enough to provide the backdrop to your party or bring some music into your garden or beside the pool.
