The NP2900 is a nice looking and very fine sounding box of tricks. Although a little less robust in use and not as feature rich as Logitech's Squeezebox Boom, it produces a marginally better sound and comes with a far superior screen and remote control. If you can't get the NP2900 for less than £250, buy the Boom. If you can get it for the same price – and don't plan on using it too far from your wireless router – then give the Philips player some serious consideration.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit Like Unlike

Philips has put together a very attractive, easy to set up Wi-Fi music streamer and radio. The colour display and improved navigation, plus a standby power consumption of just 1Watt are all in its favour – it’s really only the £230 price tag that lets down the Philips Streamium NP2900.

The Philips Streamium NP2900 might not stand out particularly, but luckily its performance means it doesn't need to. Adding a radio tuner to the mix wouldn't have done the system any harm, but the omission shouldn't be considered a death knell by any means.
