Toshiba REGZA 55SV685DB Pro Reviews

reghardware‘s review Edit

There are other LCDs with nearly as good a picture for a lot less, and even the dazzling Pioneer Kuro plasma 60-incher can be found more cheaply. Toshiba has really staked its claim to outstanding picture quality, but the Regza 55SV685DB is really only worth considering if you can find it at a discount. Snag yourself a bargain and not only do you get a great picture, but a lot of it too.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

Toshiba has created a Full HD marvel that uses its LED backlighting to create astonishingly deep blacks and rich colours for a LCD TV, but its £4,500 price tag proves it's downfall. However well it deals with high-def, it's impossible to forgive the 55SV685DB for its lack of versatility because how many of us just want to watch 1080p Blu-ray? For now, a £1,500 plasma remains a better deal.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

If you're after a large screen with the latest LED technology for a dedicated home cinema system and you watch only Blu-ray, this set is hard to beat. But there are cheaper plasma TVs available, which can deliver digital TV and DVD pictures that are far superior and in a more user-friendly manner.

By murdering the price of the 55SV685DB ahead of this review (though oddly some sites are still carrying it for well in excess of £3,000!), Toshiba has turned an excellent TV that nobody could afford into, well, just an excellent TV.
