jamo R 907 Pro Reviews

www.whathifi.com‘s review Edit

Speakers don’t have to come in wooden boxes, as Jamo proves with the mighty R907. A drive unit throws out the same amount of sound backwards as it does forwards and the box is there to stop the two interfering. This interference cancels bass, leaving the sound thin and overly bright. Why build the box out of wood? Well, it’s cheap and easy to work with. Jamo took a different approach with its R909 speakers, and it follows the cabinetless route here. While it’s true the cabinet prevents bass cancellation, it also introduces a whole range of distortions that every speaker with an enclosure suffers from to some degree.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

The problem with eliminating the cabinet is that it leaves the nature of the loudspeaker drivers fully exposed. Those box colorations can on occasion be more than benign; they can help calm down frisky drivers. In the case of the Jamo R 907, the top end of the loudspeaker can turn shrill.

stereophile‘s review Edit

I'm wondering if I've made too much of the Jamo Reference R 907's imperfections. Taken together, all of them were not enough to seriously detract from the glories and pleasures of listening to all types of music through these loudspeakers. I found the Jamos second to none in their sonic purity from the top of the audioband to a surprisingly deep bottom. The total elimination of box resonances was enduringly refreshing, and the imaging was beautifully precise within a deep soundstage. Of a modest size and with a striking appearance, the Jamo R 907 provides state-of-the-art performance at a competitive price.
