Canon PowerShot D10 Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

Indoor shots without the flash were much less impressive, though, with a massive drop in detail. Every camera we tested this month struggled in low light, and the D10 was above average. This is a likeable, high-quality camera.

DigitalCameraReview‘s review Edit

There really isn't much to complain about with the D10. It's cheaper than the closest competitor from Olympus, it goes a little deeper than many of the other underwater cameras in its class, and it has the toughest wrist strap ever to grace a compact digital.

reghardware‘s review Edit

At just under £400, the PowerShot D10 is not cheap, especially when you consider that you can get a decent DSLR for the same price. That said, you can’t use your DSLR underwater without any protection. As a camera for using in extreme conditions, the PowerShot D10 offers a lot, but in order to take advantage of this, users will have to settle for some compromises in terms of features and performance. As the saying goes, you pays your money and you takes your choice.

Engadget‘s review Edit

Canon's PowerShot D10 is a stellar adventure camera. It's more than just a waterproof camera that's only marginally larger than a standard P&S, it's a rugged, lightweight shooter that should suit most everyone but the professionals in attendance.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

The design of the Canon PowerShot D10 is spot-on for a ruggedised camera. It feels good to use and, most importantly, it’s very easy to use. It takes clear photos but we’d have liked more contrast. Pick it up if you’re after a ruggedised camera for the outdoors.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The PowerShot D10 is waterproof, freeze-proof, and shock-proof, and it pumps out great-looking images, but if you're looking for a slim camera, this isn't it.

ephotozine‘s review Edit

I really like the styling of the camera, it reminds me of a submersive vehicle that explores old ship wrecks. It's very fast at start up, thought has gone into the layout for using underwater and it has all the features you'd expect on a land lubbing compact camera.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Canon PowerShot D10 is Canon's first attempt at a waterproof (to 10M) compact, and straight away it looks different from the rest. The Canon worked fine in freezing conditions, though the LCD display was more sluggish than at normal temperatures. Underwater, the D10 proved fine and the LCD's wide angle of view will prove useful for close-ups at awkward angles. Canon's PowerShot D10 has a somewhat inelegant design, but it's easy to grip in the water.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

It might not look quite right, but the PowerShot D10 is a solid entry into rugged cameras for Canon.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

In many ways using the Canon PowerShot D10 is much like using any other Canon point-and-shoot compact. Ignore the rather obvious external design differences, and you'll find that the D10 offers the usual blend of intuitive handling, sensible design and largely dependable image quality.

The Imaging Resource‘s review Edit

From a user's perspective, the Canon PowerShot D10 is a unique, solid underwater digital camera with above-average depth capability, and resistance to freezing weather and impact. The interface is well-designed and familiar to existing Canon users. It's also a kick to use in the water, and fun in any outdoor activity. Speed is good, about as fast as the average digital camera, and its video mode also works well above and below the water. Where it has trouble is in the corners and sides of images, which are softer than we like to see.

Camera Labs‘s review Edit

The Canon PowerShot D10 is an excellent all-round digital compact that is designed specifically for use in the water and other 'challenging' environments. With a 12.1 megapixel sensor, 3x digital zoom and 2.5in LCD it's specifications may not set your heart racing, but within these boundaries it does what it does very well and produces excellent quality photos.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

As Canon's first foray into the world of pocket bomb-proof cameras, it's a compelling offering. It is a little more bloated than Olympus rivals, but it does give you something to grip onto when using it in more remote locations, such as diving or climbing, where it sits nicely in the hand when you want to grab it and shoot.

Steve's Digicams‘s review Edit

The Canon PowerShot D10 is a very appealing 'Go Anywhere' digicam. With the ability to capture pleasing images no matter what the conditions are, this is one versatile little camera. On top of that, the D10 offers blazing fast performance, so you can be confident that you are going to capture that shot when you press the shutter button.
