Dell Inspiron 17R Pro Reviews

PC World‘s review Edit

The 17R is a nice piece of work. It's very affordable and looks good anywhere you take it. At the time of this writing, some hefty discounts were available on Dell's site, making a 17R configured similarly to ours only $800. Even sans discount, the 17R stands high on our list of desktop replacements.

The Dell Inspiron 17R (N7110) gives you some 3D performance, creative control of both your virtual media and the laptop's physical appearance, and features to make this desktop replacement laptop pop.

The Inspiron 17R is a good desktop replacement laptop, but unless you're into games it's a little overpriced compared to the competition.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The Dell Inspiron 17R-2950MRB is an enticing prospect if your daily routine doesn't include 3D gaming. There's plenty of processing power and storage for avid videographers and photographers, and its latest features will thrust you into a new age of wireless connectivity and high definition bliss. But there are better desktop replacement laptops out there. The HP Pavilion dv7-4083cl, our Editors' Choice, has the graphics oomph and the kind of battery life you need if you do decide to take this laptop on the road.

The Dell Inspiron 17R-2248MRB has good horsepower and an excellent user experience, but it doesn't pamper you with features.

Between 15 and 16 inches might be the most common laptop size, but if you're looking for a desktop replacement you probably want a bigger screen. This is where the 17.3in Dell Inspiron 17R comes in. Available in a wide range of configurations, with processors from the old mobile Pentium to the latest Core i5, it caters to a variety of price points and is available in Mars Black, Peacock Blue and Tomato Red (yummy).

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

If it weren't for its poor battery, the Inspiron 17R would have been a clear candidate for an award this month. Its stunning screen and cutting-edge power make it a great choice, but the improved mobility of the Apple and Samsung push it into third place this time around.

This big, stylish $850 laptop has discrete graphics for a little extra video oomph. It's a great deal if you want a 17-inch LCD, but less so if you're a gamer.

As far as features go, the Dell Inspiron 17R-2211OBK is decidedly average for a 17.3-inch laptops. But dig just below the surface and you'll find above-average performance for this desktop replacement. Other than that, there's not much that makes the 17R-2211OBK standout from the competition.

Notebookcheck‘s review Edit

The Inspiron 17R in the configuration at hand, with an Intel Core i5 CPU and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 graphic card, has more than sufficient reserves for daily use. Only losses in terms of resolution and detail levels have to be accepted in games for a smooth game play.
