Ricoh CX1 Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

Ricoh has really gone to town on the CX1, and not with novelty gimmicks, either, but features that make a difference. It can't match the fantastic F200EXR for image quality, but it has a more detailed screen, a bigger zoom and its performance is far faster. We recommend the F200EXR for most people, but if you're considering one of the cameras in this month's Labs test, the CX1 is an extremely tempting alternative.

Ricoh has managed to pack a lot under the stylish hood of the CX1, including some welcome new features like very high-speed continuous shooting and increased dynamic range, plus multi-targeting AF and WB.

reghardware‘s review Edit

The CX1 has some handy features - such as various continuous shooting modes and a nice 7.1x optical zoom - and handles well. But we aren't convinced that features such as Multi-target Auto Focus and Dynamic Range Double Shot mean that its £300 price tag offers good value for money. So unless you like to be absolutely, utterly, completely sure that your images are properly focused and don’t mind firing off seven frame to get this result, then the CX1 doesn’t offer a great deal more than many cameras costing a bit less.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

While Ricoh may not come to mind when contemplating a compact camera, the Ricoh CX1 is definitely worthy of some attention. It produces superb images, feels good to use and has plenty of great features to play with. You don’t get all the controls a ‘serious’ photographer could wish for and the price is steep for a sub-10Mp model, but the Ricoh’s fast continuous shooting mode and dedicated and effective dynamic range help it make a good case. This is a very decent compact camera.

ephotozine‘s review Edit

I really like the Ricoh CX1 with its boxy design and matt black finish. The screen is lovely to use and the features are many. It's a shame that the image performance still isn't up to scratch. I like to see smooth images when shooting up to ISO200 but I can't get a result I'm happy with from a Ricoh.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

Still, if image quality is of prime importance, then the Ricoh CX1 is well worth a look. It produces very good out-of-the-camera JPEG images, with excellent dynamic range as promised in the DR mode and improved noise performance. If you don't mind the lack of manual controls, the CX1 makes a great pocket camera for the keen photographer, although I'm sure we'll see the same technology appear in a future GR or GX model...

The Ricoh CX1 is a very accomplished camera from one of the veteran names in the industry. It combines excellent build quality, a versatile specification, class-leading performance and superb image quality with a range of innovative features and easy-to-use handling, all for a very reasonable price, and even includes a two-year warranty. It’s impossible not to be impressed.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

A highly specified, well crafted camera with a host of very clever features that work, the Ricoh CX1 is a machine for the more advanced user and offers image quality to match for those that know what they’re doing. Yes it has all-auto and scene modes to use but that would be missing the point of this camera, a camera that is, it must be said, rather excellent.

Steve's Digicams‘s review Edit

Ricoh has put together an awesome little compact camera. The CX1 was a pleasure to use, in fact there were Very few things that I could find 'wrong' with this camera. It offers image quality that is not matched by most of it's competition, not to mention blazing fast shooting performance. The new CMOS image sensor, 920,00 dot 3.0-inch LCD, and Dynamic Range Double Shot modes are all welcomed additions, and increase the overall appeal of this camera.

LetsGoDigital‘s review Edit

On the other hand; Ricoh does know how to design a beautiful compact camera. The Ricoh CX1 comes across as a jewel. Ultra-neat, no inexplicable bits and pieces or superfluous buttons. Just that what you need in a solid housing. It truly is a camera to take along with you; whilst at the same time not even being aware of carrying it along. That is how compact the Ricoh CX1 is. Now all Ricoh has to do, is strive for top quality and the brand will have an absolute gem in its hands.
