TomTom Go Live 1000 Pro Reviews

www.computeractive.co.uk‘s review Edit

The Tomtom Go Live 1000 worked well as a navigator – the guidance for which lane to be in and the read-aloud road names are particularly useful. It can work as a hands-free phone speaker and the HD Traffic service, for quicker traffic updates, worked well. A cheaper version (£250) has only UK and Irish maps, and both are available at £40 or £50 discounts online, but this is still an expensive product for its omissions.

We're not impressed by some aspects of the new capacitive touch screen, which is a real shame as otherwise it's an impressive sat-nav with seamless integration of the impressive GPRS-based LIVE services, and the new magnetic mount deserves heaps of praise.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

A good sat nav with great extra services that really make a positive difference to your driving, but this wasn't quite the all-rounder we were hoping for. The wrong directions were disappointing, and the menu system too confusing for this to be an all-out winner.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

The TomTom GO Live 1000 is one of the best-equipped GPS navigation devices on the market, making it ideal for those who use a sat nav every day. Less frequent users will get better value out of cheaper units, but the GO 1000 is slick, functional and very well designed, making it a highly recommended purchase.

PC Pro‘s review Edit

It's clear the Go Live 1000 is a very good product, and it replaces the 550/750 as our favourite standalone satnav. But the high price means it remains a device primarily for those who do a lot of driving as part of their work. For casual satnav duties, there are other, far more cost-effective ways of getting from A to B.

It isn't cheap, but this is a superb navigator that will get you to your destination as fast as possible.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

As with its TomTom LIVE predecessors, the GO 1000 is not a cheap sat-nav and despite its abilities, if you’re only an occasional traveller it will be overkill. For those in this category, a more modest option would make better economic sense. But for those who make frequent journeys or just want the most advanced satellite navigation, the GO 1000 is the most capable device currently on the market. Yet again, TomTom has set the standard other satellite navigation devices will need to beat.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

TomTom have based the new Go 1000 on a WebKit platform and tell us that it has been optimised for third-party expansion. At this point in time, there is little evidence of this sort of expansion, and you have to question whether you want apps in the satnav device. Perhaps a McDonald's finder with special offers might appeal, or an English Heritage site finder and so on, over and above what the POIs offer you. It's a great way for you to rack-up loyalty points at a hotel chain, if this is the intended use. As it is, the TomTom Go 1000 looks like a great satnav device and we found it worked perfectly when driving.
