Lenovo's W700ds is a monster machine for sure. So, if you need a machine with a lot of horsepower and find yourself moving around enough that a desktop isn't practical - but then again don't move so much that you'd need to pick this up more than once a day - this is the device for you. However, if you don't fit into that incredibly small niche of a niche then you'd be well advised to move along. There are plenty of other more general-purpose solutions that are smaller, lighter, and, perhaps most importantly, cheaper.

Since my first look at the original W700, I’ve never tried to hide my feeling that Lenovo has done a lot right with this platform when it comes to designing a mobile workstation for graphics pros. Putting the question of its astronomical cost aside for the moment – after all, this will be a legitimate business expense with long-term return for most potential W700 buyers – Lenovo has put together a machine that, for commercial graphics or design work, really is almost impossible to beat.
