HP Mini 2140 Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

The 2140 lasted for three hours and 16 minutes in our battery test. We liked the 2140's sturdy metal design and large keyboard.

If there's one thing going against the Mini 2140, it's the price tag that comes with it. Given the specs, we were expecting it to be closer to the £300 mark. We were also left yearning for the high-resolution display of the Mini-Note 2133, and although it boasts one of the best netbook keyboards out there, the three-cell battery means battery life is disappointing. Despite these complaints, this is still a decent, if pricey, netbook.

reghardware‘s review Edit

We love the keyboard, its lightweight nature and robust design. It is, however, a little on the pricey side compared to the competition. Both the Asus 1000HE and Samsung NC10, for example, are similarly specified, yet cheaper and offer better battery life. And it's the Mini 2140's price tag and performance away from the mains that ultimately stops it scoring higher – at £361 we were hoping to get the six-cell battery included as standard.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

HP has assembled a compelling netbook package, but in the US at least, the HP Mini 2140 in its premium configuration bears a price tag that approaches what you'd expect to find on a good all-purpose machine.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The HP Mini 2140 offers a larger screen and more advanced parts than its HP 2133 Mini-Note predecessor, while keeping the sexy design intact. But it's pricier than other netbooks - for now.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

With plenty of style and all-round usability, the HP Mini 2140 is certainly a great little netbook. However, performance isn't quite up to scratch and it doesn't come cheap, meaning, overall, we prefer the Mini 110c.

Liliputing‘s review Edit

The HP Mini 2140 certainly isn’t the cheapest netbook around. But you get what you pay for.Sure, the processor isn’t any faster than the CPUs in lower priced netbooks like the HP Mini 1000. And it’s not the thinnest and lightest mini-laptop available. But for a reasonable amount of extra cash you get a sturdier case, an accelerometer, a spill resistant keyboard with DuraKey finish, an ExpressCard slot, and a decent if not spectacular 3 cell battery. A 6 cell battery is also available, which reportedly runs for up to 8 hours with a standard hard drive, and up to 10 hours if you opt for the $575 80GB SSD.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

So taken as a complete bundle it is clear where the strengths of the 2140 lie. For the international traveller, it has the durability, capacity and battery life to let you work or stay entertained whilst on the move. It also lends itself to keyboard work, but stumbles when it comes to trackpad usage. The 2140 is also well connected, save for the omission of a mobile broadband modem, so should cater for most needs.

NotebookReview‘s review Edit

The HP Mini 2140 is a very solid netbook that offers an amazing keyboard instead of something condensed that might be difficult to type on for extended periods of time. It wooed us last time we reviewed it, and it gets the same response again now that it offers a higher resolution screen. The other alternatives at this time for a comparable resolution screen is turning to the Sony VAIO P, at the starting cost of $899, or the Dell Mini 10 for $484 for similar configuration. Our big complaint with this model is the glossy plastic layer over the display, which adds glare and created a trap for dust.

HardwareZone‘s review Edit

While the HP Mini 1000 was but an inheritor of the Mini-Note 2133's spirit, it's the newly updated Intel Atom-based HP Mini 2140 that's really the successor to the 2133. Sharing the same build and design like its brushed aluminum finish.

Notebookcheck‘s review Edit

HP actually did everything right with the current Mini 2140. The netbook was equipped with a massive aluminium chassis, which helps the device reaching an excellent stability, and also provides a great feel. Together with the felicituous design (aside from minor flaws in the built), one can hardly say anything against the case.

computershopper‘s review Edit

The HP Mini 2140 may just be the best netbook on the market. For a good price, it combines handsome good looks with an outstanding screen and performance that's appropriate for its class.
