Optoma GT720 Pro Reviews

projectorreviews‘s review Edit

Just got off the phone with Pete. As he put it, the Optoma GT720 is very nicely targeted at younger gamers - from kids to college. Consider their marketing - including the black and red backpack the projector comes packaged in. Pete thinks it's very nicely, and reasonably priced, for the job it does, and that's as a game projector first. He's looking at the BenQ W1200 right now, in terms of game performance (it's not marketed as a gaming projector, but as a "step up" from entry level 1080p home entertainment projector). As an overall projector - not just for gaming, Pete already says, definitely a step up, but why not? After all, the BenQ W1200 sells for almost exactly 2x the GT720 projector's street price, and it can't do any 3D, let alone 3D gaming. In other words, Pete might really like the W1200 as a gaming projector, but he understands that budgets are king, and sees a strong position for the GT720, and for that matter, the just announced GT7750, which for the extra money, provides Blu-ray 3D compatibility and other 1080p 3D functionality.

itreviews‘s review Edit

The Optoma GT720 is a reasonably impressive 2D projector that's versatile enough for most uses, and does appear good value as a standalone product - particularly for use with a games console. Our conclusion from its 3D performance, with the 3D-XL processor in tow, is that the various 3D formats mean significant highs and lows. The more subtle the 3D effect, the more problems appear - though there's no doubting that the GT720 is a fine budget 3D projector when given the chance. One for gamers with an eye on the 3D future.

ProjectorCentral‘s review Edit

The Optoma GameTime GT720 is a great projector for the display of high-definition video games from the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, or even a high-end PC. It has a bright, dynamic image that pops off the screen, beautifully saturated color, and crystal-clear sharpness. It is highly portable and easy to use, and the onboard sound system is enough for all but the largest rooms.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

One of the few projectors designed specifically for game playing, the Optoma GT720 is 3D ready and offers a short throw, good brightness, and high-volume, good quality audio.
