Microsoft KIN TWO Pro Reviews

phonedog‘s review Edit

Microsoft and Verizon are taking something of a chance with their new Kin duo of phones, what with their arrestingly different user interfaces, curious omission of features like calendars and IM clients, and smartphone-level monthly data pricing. Me? If I had to choose one Kin or the other I'd take Kin Two - I prefer its horizontal slider layout and two-thumb friendly keyboard, not to mention the extra memory and HD video capture not found on its little sister, Kin One.

The Kin Two has some upgrades from the Kin One, including a more powerful camera/camcorder, a bigger screen, and a less conspicuous color scheme. It also has a downgrade from the Kin One in internal memory and its keypad is a bit harder to type on since the keys are shorter. But plenty of things about the Kin Two that could use an upgrade are just like the Kin One.

Phone Scoop‘s review Edit

There are omissions on the Kin Two I can excuse. No calendar, no instant messaging, no navigation; I can live without if the target audience really doesn't use these features, as Microsoft's extensive focus research has shown. But the lack of these features is hardly the biggest problem I have with the Kin Two. At every level the phone is an utter disappointment.

Macworld‘s review Edit

With a better design and stronger specs, the Kin Two (Verizon; price TBA) outshines its sibling, the Kin One. But it isn't perfect: Limitations and omissions within the software keep it from being a threat to lower-priced smartphones on Verizon.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The Microsoft Kin Two isn't quite a smartphone, but it's a heady drug for Facebook obsessives.

Todd gives his take on the Microsoft KIN TWO, one of Verizon's most debated feature phones to come along for some time. The KIN phones use a brand new user interface that people will love or hate. We've even included a sample of the TWO's HD video recording in this in-depth review.

Digital Trends‘s review Edit

Microsoft’s Kin OS make the specialized Kins seem kind of alien, and it’s an acquired taste. It would be foolhardy for us to express an opinion on the look and feel, since some people will cozy right up to its unusual social network approach. You won’t take to the Kins if you’re more verbal and want a multi-function device – in other words, neither is a Droid alternative. Between the two, the Kin OS is too big and too cluttered for the cute Kin One. Neither phone is helped by their slipperiness or their impossible to feel-by-touch external controls. But if texting and keeping up with your virtual friends is all you want from a mobile device, either Kin can cleverly keep you connected.

This social networking-centric phone innovates in some ways but mostly misses the mark.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

The Kin Two offers some upgraded features over the Kin One, but you can get more for less with a number of Verizon's other smartphones.
