Canon PowerShot A480 Pro Reviews

DigitalCameraReview‘s review Edit

When veteran photographers think of entry-level cameras, they often tend to dismiss such cameras because they are cheaply made and generally designed for amateurs. That's too bad, because inexpensive doesn't necessarily mean inadequate.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

If you're a tripod-shooter, a steady-handed photographer, or just want a bargain-bin camera with good image quality, the Canon PowerShot A480 is worth a look. Its lack of image stabilisation and some modes, however, may cause action photographers to pass it up.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Canon PowerShot A480 is basic point and shoot that surprises with image quality. Despite the plasticky feel of the camera, there are a few thrills, including face-detection auto-focus which is linked with metering and flash exposure as well as white balance. You also get motion detection technology. Another neat trick is auto red-eye correction, which is available in both shooting and playback modes. Sadly though, this is the only model on test to lack Canon's optical image-stabiliser system built into the lens.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

Canon Powershot A480 is an easy-to-use and well-balanced camera that produces good photos, making it an excellent choice for the first-time camera buyer. It may even find its way into the pockets of more experienced photographers looking for a straight-forward point-and-shoot that won't break the bank.

Steve's Digicams‘s review Edit

Canon PowerShot A480 is an excellent choice for anyone looking to enter the digital camera market. With a full list of options like a 10-Megapixel imaging sensor, advanced face detection and 3.3x optical zoom lens; you will not find another model with more features in this price range. It is easy enough for anyone in the home of office to use, including kids and grandparents with no previous camera experience.

The super-entry-level PowerShot A480 does offer good image quality, but the lack of any stabilization is a major drawback.

The Canon PowerShot A480 may be a basic low-priced compact camera, but at least it takes good photos.
