Canon PowerShot SX120 IS Pro Reviews

DigitalCameraReview‘s review Edit

The SX120 IS is almost exactly the same camera as the SX110 IS that was released last year at the same time, minus the processing chip, resolution and features like advanced face detection. It has the same body size and design, the same construction, operation and controls, and the same focal length.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

Overall, we think the Canon PowerShot SX120 IS is a very good value camera for anyone who wants something small and compact, yet a camera capable of taking good shots in most scenarios. It provides good range with its 10x optical zoom, and it's also performed well in night settings. We found a couple of issues with its build quality, but nontheless it has a reasonable price tag, it is easy to use and will suit anyone from an inexperienced user to a traveller who wants versatility in a small package.

They all produced images that were close to each other making the judging very close. The Canon gave decent results throughout but there wasn't anything outstanding. While I like to see something pushing the boat out a little bit more.

Steve's Digicams‘s review Edit

The PowerShot SX120 IS is an appealing 10-megapixel, compact super-zoom. With excellent performance and good image quality, its one of the most affordable cameras on the market with a 10x stabilized optical zoom.

The Imaging Resource‘s review Edit

The Canon SX120IS follows up last year's SX110IS model - itself an update of 2007's popular long-zoom SX100IS model. Compared to the SX110IS, Canon has again upped the resolution slightly, taking the SX120 from a nine megapixel sensor to a ten megapixels chip of identical size. The Canon SX120's body is nearly identical to that of its predecessor, the only noticeable change beyond the different labelling being the removal of the print button adjacent to the top left of the LCD display on the rear panel.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

Virtually identical to its year-old predecessor, the new Canon PowerShot SX120 doesn't represent a worthwhile upgrade for current SX110 owners, but it does remain an affordable and well-specified super-zoom that should appeal to both beginners and serious photographers alike.

PC World‘s review Edit

This stylish, compact megazoom has a nice range of controls, but it suffers from a sluggish shutter and short battery life.

Camera Labs‘s review Edit

The Canon PowerShot SX120 IS is a 10 Megapixel budget super-zoom with a 10x image stabilised optical zoom lens and a 3in screen. It's broadly similar to its popular predecessor, the SX110 IS, but adds one Megapixel to the resolution along with other features like Scene recognition and Face self-timer, both courtesy of Canon's latest DIGIC 4 processor.

Canon's SX120 IS pocket megazoom falls behind the competition in every aspect except photo quality.
