Though I think Windows Mobile is a bit antiquated when looking at webOS, iPhone OS, and Android, the LG Fathom is a decent mid-range smartphone that should make a lot of people happy. It has a great QWERTY keyboard, world roaming capabilities thanks to a SIM card slot under the battery, and decent battery life.

Phone Scoop‘s review Edit Like Unlike

The LG Fathom does not get everything wrong. Battery life was pretty good, as was call quality and signal strength; LG has nailed some of the basics for a cell phone. But if you're looking for a business smartphone, you want more than basics. Windows Mobile can offer plenty of great business features, especially to Exchange users and folks tied tightly to a Microsoft infrastructure for security and provisioning.

All in all, we have to say that LG is on the mark with its first Verizon smartphone (even if it's a rather boring mark). At $150 (with $100 rebate and two year contract) we think the companies are hitting a little high. Still, this is a solid outing and a solid device - let's hope that it's the first of many for the pair.
