Camera Labs‘s review Edit

The Canon Ixus 860IS / PowerShot SD870 IS has a lot going for it. The great build quality, large screen, quick response, wide angle coverage and respectable quality will be sufficient to sell it to many people.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

It's an excellent point and shoot camera with a wealth of features that make it easy to take great photographs. Pick the IXUS 860 IS up for the first time and there is an undeniable sense of quality which exceeds most of the competition. Just as impressively, Canon have managed to include a massive 3 inch LCD screen despite the small credit-card-like dimensions of the IXUS 860 IS, although this does come at the expense of an optical viewfinder.

Though not made as sturdily as other Elphs, the SD870 IS has a big LCD, an extra-wide zoom lens, and takes great pictures.

The Imaging Resource‘s review Edit

The Canon SD870 continues with the features that made the PowerShot SD800 a great camera: an excellent 28mm wide-angle lens, Face-detection autofocus, optical image stabilization, plenty of scene modes, and a few important tweaks to the overall operation of the camera. Even movie mode benefits from the wide-angle view, making personal up-close family videos quite easy and fun.

While the Canon PowerShot SD870 IS doesn't have an optical viewfinder or manual exposure controls, it captures beautiful images with its wide, 3.8x optical zoom lens and ranks among the top compact cameras we've seen.

LetsGoDigital‘s review Edit

The Canon Digital IXUS 860 IS camera is worth its money. The small shortcomings are visible through technical tests but in practice I believe they will be hardly found in the picture. Canon have added another beautiful IXUS model to the assortment and stay in the race of keeping an impressive market share. If you are looking for a stylish developed camera, user friendly and equipped with innovative and effective image solutions you might find the Canon 860 IS camera the right one. And if you want a camera that needs more manual efforts you should look for the PowerShot G9 or a different brand.
