While the photographic performance of this little innovator left me cold, I have to admit that the inclusion of a dual LCD screen does make taking self-portraits an all-together new and more creative experience. For this reason alone, I’d recommend this camera to any serious self-snapper and commend Samsung on introducing what will, no doubt, become a standard feature on many compact cameras.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit Like Unlike

Despite its reasonably good image quality, the Samsung ST550 could still use some refinement. The menu system needs to be more user-friendly and the battery life and charging options need vast improvement. We're also not convinced that the majority of people who want to take self-portraits will need a second screen, but we applaud the innovation.

For me, the Samsung has the most features. The touch-screen is a haptic type that vibrates to confirm it's working. That's kind of annoying but can be turned off. It also provides the best colours out of the three, handles noise well even though it creeps in too early and also copes well with white-balance.

To be honest, when we first started using Samsung's DualView ST550 digital camera, we really thought that this thing would prove to ne an interesting solutions mostly for young people and especially for those who simply love taking self-portraits as often as possible (some using the mirrors in clubs' bathrooms in order to do so).

With the best touchscreen interface of any current camera and a useful secondary LCD for easy self-portraits, the Samsung ST550 is a real crowd-pleaser. The resulting poor battery life and so-so image quality unfortunately ultimately detract from the great first impressions.
