Samsung UN46C8000 Pro Reviews

hdtvtest‘s review Edit

As a 2D TV, the Samsung UE46C8000 is potentially decent. Despite featuring excellent post-calibration greyscale performance and standard-def video processing, the package comes with a few other caveats: namely auto-dimming, non-uniformity, undefeatable noise reduction, poor scaling in 3D mode, and viewing angle issues. Some of these points seem to be specific to Samsung’s ultra-slim LED LCDs, making these displays something of a compromise between style and performance. Videophiles are unlikely to tolerate these deficiencies all for the sake of reducing the size of the chassis by a few centimetres, but style-conscious viewers would likely have a different view.

Despite minor flaws, the C8000 series bundles superb image quality with great Internet and media-player features. If you're willing to pay top dollar, Samsung delivers the goods.

As with every other set here, the ’C8000 boasts a Freeview HD tuner, and off-air pictures are impressive. A touch of overexuberance is apparent in the colours of the Eggheads studio, but for detail and sharpness it’s impressive, especially with BBC HD.

reghardware‘s review Edit

The C8000 still earns its keep as an outstanding 2D television, allowing you to treat the 3D option as just one extra item on an impressively long list of features. Its image quality is as striking as its aesthetic design, and the attention to detail in features such as the on-screen menus, online services, and USB-recording simply confirm the fact that the C8000 really is a class act.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

Its 3D is still a work in progress and its 2D picture quality comes up short of the best available, but the high-end Samsung UNC8000 series still offers superb features, solid performance, and unique style.

As a piece of technological design, the UE46C8000 can’t be beat. And it’s a stellar 2D picture performer too. These two factors alone could be enough to make the UE46C8000 an essential purchase for some.

AVForums‘s review Edit

Ultimately this is a very capable display with excellent greyscale and colour performance and superb processing, sadly poor backlight uniformity compromises its 2D performance and cross talk hinders its 3D potential. The price is also an issue when you add up all the pros and cons.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

Although it’s expensive and 3D has a few teething troubles, the UE46C8000 is something special. 3D is just one of many reasons to recommend it - the amount of other features is staggering and if you can find a better looking TV we’ll eat our 3D glasses.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

While undeniably expensive against standard 46in TVs, it does feature extensive multimedia support, a stunning design and a large amount of innovative 3D technology.

Home Theater‘s review Edit

A great picture, plenty of adjustments to make it even better, and cutting-edge technology all around would be enough to make this Samsung a real contender for the top of the pack in flat-panel HDTVs. Then add in 3D performance that (based on the limited program material available) is arguably at least as effective as anything you’ll see in the theater apart from sheer size, and the UN46C8000 sells itself.
