Panasonic VIERA TX-P42G20B Pro Reviews

hdtvtest‘s review Edit

An integrated Freeview HD tuner, commendable motion clarity, wide viewing angles, and reduced power consumption (cf. previous 1080p plasmas) complete this terrific package. Although it’s early days (after all we haven’t examined any 2010 offerings from other TV manufacturers), the Panasonic TX-P42G20 appears to be the HDTV to beat in 2010 when it comes to overall picture quality at this screen size and price point.

The ’P42G20 is a good plasma, but it’s out-performed and more expensive than the class leaders

What’s more, built-in Freeview HD and Freesat HD tuners give you the best of both free HD worlds. It’s not the best looking set we’ve seen and some people may prefer a brighter picture, but in every other respect this is a winner through and through.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

With the P42G20, Panasonic has effectively introduced the quality of last year's high-end models to a mid-range price point - and you can't ask for more than that. Plus, of course, it raises tantalising questions about just what Panasonic might be about to deliver with its flagship, 3D-capable VT20 models...

The P42G20B may lack the glamour and panache of many of today’s LCD glory boys, and its realistic approach to pictures might struggle to make its presence felt in a crowded electrical superstore. But don’t let this deceive you. For underneath its uninspiring exterior beats a heart of home cinema gold and a stubborn focus on good, old-fashioned picture accuracy and quality, all for a decent price.
