FujiFilm Finepix F200EXR Pro Reviews

ITreviews‘s review Edit

Fujifilm should be congratulated for the powerful new EXR sensor which has opened up a new range of ways of pursuing image excellence, contained within a familiar compact digital body.

DigitalCameraReview‘s review Edit

The Super CCD EXR sensor alone is the F200EXR strongest selling point, and primary differentiator from the F100fd. With a broadened dynamic range that most digital compacts can't even touch, the technology behind the sensor is certainly innovative and worth trying for yourself.

At this end of the price spectrum, the battle is between the Samsung WB1000 and F200EXR. Both offer very similar performance and build quality, and while the Samsung is arguably superior when it comes to the latter, the similarity in image quality means those searching for a compact camera with a proper manual mode should save £20 and plump for the Fuji.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

We were very impressed with the FujiFilm FinePix F200EXR. It’s easy enough to use, which means beginners and fans of point-and-shoot camera won’t be confused, but also offers scope for those more serious about photography.

MacNN‘s review Edit

It's hard not to like the F200 EXR on at least some level. The F200 EXR isn't for everyone, and it's over-marketed, but does feel like a well-kept secret: for those in the know, it could be a go-to camera for relatively strong image quality without having to move to a semi-pro compact or DSLR.

Macworld‘s review Edit

Though the FinePix F200 EXR is a great little point-and-shoot, it has some surprising limitations. Low-light images are excellent without the flash, colors are vibrant. The F200 EXR is a very good camera, but I was expecting a bit more.

The principle ideals of the camera seem excellent, its features are ahead of anyone else and Fujifilm are once again proving themselves as market leaders in the sensor development field.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Fuji FinePix F200EXR has 12MP sensor with good colour rendition and great detail. Disappointingly, the reduction in image noise was nowhere near as effective as we'd hoped for. Things take a turn for the better in Wide Dynamic Range mode, which really does work effectively. In our tests, the camera did an excellent job of retaining both highlight and lowlight detail. All in all, the F200EX has a lot going for it but, to repeat a well-worn adage, it's more evolution than revolution.

The F200EXR is an excellent camera with vibrant color reproduction, but we wanted more out of its sensor modes and flash.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

The Fuji FinePix F200 EXR is well-made premium compact that represents a major technological breakthrough in terms of sensor design and performance, and a welcome return to form for Fuji's flagship compact series. It is capable of taking good quality pictures in virtually any light conditions, and has better high-ISO image quality and low-light focusing than any other compact on the market. It is expensive at the moment, although the price will almost certainly fall over the next few months.

Digital Trends‘s review Edit

Is the Super CCD EXR sensor heaven’s gift to photographers? Not really, but it is a nice step forward. The camera works well as a point-and-shoot, and adventurous shutterbugs will enjoy playing with the EXR’s individual options just to see what they can do.

This isn't the smallest camera out there, however the in-camera technology and features make this a very versatile camera indeed.

LetsGoDigital‘s review Edit

The Fujifilm F200EXR is a compact camera with emphasis on simplicity and ease. Yet there is a lot of technique hiding in this small camera, among which is the EXR technique. And although an auto EXR mode is integrated, enough extra options are left to be able to work independently.

The Fujifilm FinePix F200EXR isn't heavy on features, but this pocket camera takes excellent photos.

The Imaging Resource‘s review Edit

There's some to-die-for technology going on behind the lens of the F200EXR. The pixel-level control of the sensor is well implemented, with even an Auto option that intelligently selects the best exposure method.

DP Review‘s review Edit

Followers of Fujifilm's compacts will see the F200 EXR as sitting in the shadow of the much sought-after F30 and F31fd, but for the wider market it's undoubtedly a much improved camera. It may not quite match the F31fd's noise performance at ISO 800 and upwards (or indeed its impressive battery life), but it's got a much nicer user interface, a considerably more flexible lens and accepts a wider range of memory cards.

infoSync World‘s review Edit

It may not be the most attractive compact on the display table, but the Fujifilm Finepix F200EXR proved itself a high-performance machine by the end of our test drive. The new EXR technology passed with flying colors and image quality was the best we could expect for a compact in this class. The Finepix F200EXR also brims with features and has a 28mm wide-angle lens. The uninspiring interface and soporific architecture will just have to be overlooked, but the $400 price tag is a little harder to brush aside.
