Panasonic VIERA TX-P65VT20 Pro Reviews

www.whathifi.com‘s review Edit

This punch combines with vivid colours to create a fine DVD picture. The Panasonic’s calm, controlled and natural presentation is impressive, especially at this monstrous screen size. You get Freeview HD and Freesat tuners; both are vibrant and clean. The Freesat tuner is just slightly sharper, but there’s not a great deal in it. If you’re buying a TV at this sort of size, we’d recommend a dedicated sound system; you’re likely to find the rather flat and heavy audio quite disappointing.

First and foremost, the P65VT20 is a staggeringly good 2D TV, that absolutely sings with good HD material. It also happens to be the most consistently watchable – if not very bright and not totally crosstalk-free – big-screen 3D TV we’ve seen. There’s a part of us that wonders a little if it might be worth waiting for 3D round two next year, though. And we definitely suspect there will be a few people who might wish for a cheaper, non-3D 65in Panny plasma – say a P65V20. But while this is all food for thought, it doesn’t alter the fact that the P65VT20 is a brilliant and huge (therefore more immersive for 3D) TV that really does represent the state of the art circa early September 2010.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

The TV is overall another superb set from Panasonic. Its contrast, sharpness and sheer size make watching it a wonderfully cinematic experience, and while there's room for improvement, it also serves up the best 3D pictures currently available.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

Uncomfortable 3D glasses, a cheap remote and some underwhelming digital media efforts aside, the TX-65VT20 is the most impressive big screen around; there are issues around 3D picture quality (and content), but its versatility and skill with Blu-ray and Freeview HD/Freesat HD make this all-encompassing plasma unbeatable in a high-end home cinema environment.

AVForums‘s review Edit

Overall the P65VT20 is an excellent display that is hampered by an unfortunate processing problem. The Greyscale performance and colour accuracy are reference and the black levels are the best you will see on any consumer display currently available. As a 3D display, the P65VT20 is also excellent with a very sharp, bright and detailed 3D image that is almost entirely free from crosstalk. In addition, the performance with 24p and 60Hz 2D material is equally as impressive, with a sharp and nicely rendered image. Unfortunately this is not the case with 50Hz material and since a great deal of people's viewing material will be in 50Hz this could be something of a problem.
