Panasonic VIERA TC-P50VT20 Pro Reviews

hdtvtest‘s review Edit

We can’t really think of any audience or situation that would prevent us from unreservedly recommending the Panasonic TX-P50VT20. It does 2D brilliantly in dark and bright viewing environments, can produce an enveloping 3D experience (something which could effectively be regarded as a bonus), is absolutely fantastic to play video games on, and does just about as well as a TV could with broadcast material. All that remains to be seen (except for the fate of its black levels) is how competing 3D LCD/ LED LCD products hold up, and most importantly, how the public responds to this technology at large.

For the person that wants 3D, this is the ultimate TV. Stunning image quality, amazing contrast and smooth movement make it the pinnacle of home entertainment.

An excellent TV: the only thing to count against it is the presence of Sony’s new, and even better, rival

A big, bold set with all the tuners you could want, a great picture and a fine 3D presentation capability. The £2200 price tag isn’t bad either, considering that – unlike Samsung and Sony – Panasonic does include two pairs of those expensive active-shutter glasses.

The P50VT20B is comfortably the finest mainstream TV Panasonic has ever produced, and one of the finest TVs ever seen period. And that’s even before taking its 3D talents into account. These 3D talents aren’t perfect, and leave Samsung’s LED alternative with enough wriggle room in the brightness and colour departments to make them seem merely a different option for different tastes/room environments rather than actually inferior.

AVForums‘s review Edit

If you own a Kuro, then unless you want 3D capabilities and to give up a little on the black levels, you will probably be wise to wait a while to see where this new line of Panasonic screens go. However, if you don’t yet have a quality screen and are looking for (what we think) is the best out there today, my advice is to go and see one for yourself as it comes highly recommended, with the minor caveat that the long term black level performance remains unknown at this stage.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

The TX-P50VT20 is an altogether superior telly that will thrill plasma technology aficionados. Even without the embellishment of 3D, it delivers a great HD picture (although you will need to tinker to extract the best from it). Network connectivity is fine and the brand's online content portal also shows promise.
