LG BD390 Pro Reviews

www.whathifi.com‘s review Edit

We’ve been frustrated in our pursuit of the LG BD390. Despite numerous requests sent to the company, it’s taken ages to make it into our testing rooms. That’s not always a good sign. Still, all good things, as they say… The BD390 includes both wireless internet access and a built-in 1GB memory: for now, only Sony’s games-orientated PS3 is similarly endowed.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

The LG Electronics BD390 is a powerful Blu-ray Disc player. It offers great images, and it plugs the internet and your home network into your TV. Despite its quirks, it's worth the price.

A quick disc handler, integrated wireless networking, and solid multimedia support make the LG BD390 a capable, well-rounded Blu-ray player.

Another day, another mostly excellent Blu-ray Disc player. Like almost every other player around at this price point, LG's machine plays back the common 1080p/24 discs without any issues at all (provided it's in the User picture mode), and does well enough with rarer 1080i material. As usual, it attempts to play PAL Film DVDs correctly, but doesn't do an entirely flawless job. Given the machine's other features and low price, I feel these compromises are acceptable, but obviously not ideal.

I am extremely impressed with this player. Indeed, I'd go as far to say that this is the best Blu-ray deck I've encountered yet. I can't fault its video performance at all, and its feature count is astonishing. If you're looking to create a high-definition entertainment hub in your living room, this is it.

The LG BD390's combination of excellent image quality, superfast loading times, and its currently unbeatable feature set make it our top choice among premium standalone Blu-ray players.

Home Theater‘s review Edit

The BD390 has improved its video processing over the BD300, but its scaling of DVDs doesn’t measure up to the category leaders, Pioneer and OPPO. But if you’re looking for a player that’s lightning fast in its user interface and offers a bevy of media streaming options (now including VUDU, which was announced as we went to print), this one is worth a look.

Great Blu-ray images and the best networking and streaming we've seen to date on a Blu-ray Disc player justify the LG BD390’s lofty price.

Audioholics‘s review Edit

The LG BD390 is an incredible player – and one that has some pretty ground-breaking features. Forget Blu-ray, this is almost a media center in that it provides extensive access to music from a myriad of sources. In terms of comparison, I'd have to say that for HD material this player is every bit as good as the Oppo we reviewed earlier this year and offers some impressive advantages in terms of functionality.

Quite simply, the BD390 is the deck that does it all, boasting a ludicrously lengthy list of features that beggars belief at this price. We thought the OPPO BDP-831 was generous but the LG makes its spec sheet seem positively miserly.
