Acer Aspire easyStore H340 Pro Reviews

TechCrunch‘s review Edit

Besides the small downside of not being Time Machine compatable, I cannot think of a reason to buy any other NAS/WHS over the Acer easyStore H340. The hardware is solid, the performance is acceptable, and the price is stellar at $399.

The Acer easyStore H340 is keenly priced and well featured. Windows Home Server's simple initial setup process belies its underlying capacity to be hugely customised by a willing user. NAS devices are so 2009, what you really want is a home server.

If you need a NAS solution which is built to withstand a tactical nuclear strike, holds four disks, has six expansion ports and interacts well with most popular devices, then keep your attention focused on Acer’s Easystore H340. However, the lack of RAID support will certainly put some folk off right from the start and you’ll have to be prepared to do battle with the McAfee nagware too. That said, if you are an average home user and impartial to these things but still want to store more holiday snaps than you could ever take, then Acer H340 is designed to appeal to you.

CrunchGear‘s review Edit

Windows Home Servers are dropping in price and the Acer easyStore H340 is leading the charge; I like that. Besides the small downside of not being Time Machine compatable, I cannot think of a reason to buy any other NAS/WHS over the Acer easyStore H340. The hardware is solid, the performance - acceptable...

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The Acer Aspire is small, quiet, and inexpensive, but not really for the layman with no networking chops.

While the concept of servers is definitely not new, using them within the confines of the home definitely is. Acer's new easyStore H340 packages WHS in an attractive, inexpensive format, but how well does it actually work?
