While the NWZ-A845 is a good music and video player, the price doesn't stack up. At £150 it's only £10 less than the 8GB iPod Touch, which has more features. But if sound quality is important, it's a good choice.

The A-series Walkman is a fine successor to the previous models Sony has released in its class. The built-in noise cancelling ability isn't as much of a show-stopper as Sony might hope, but the A-series is nonetheless a solidly built, well-featured and competitively priced rival to Apple's iPod nano.

We like the Sony A845 despite its long list of minor flaws. The absence of a touch screen seems a bit odd, and the limited support for music and video formats could be a real problem for some people. On the other hand if, like us, you merely want a player that handles MP3 music with aplomb and you love the look and feel of a sophisticated piece of hardware, you'll be won over.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit Like Unlike

Although Sony's flagship music player doesn't have all the bells and whistles that you mind find on an Apple product, what it does have is a mighty fine audio performance and as that's the main reason you'll be looking at buying it: the NWZ-A845 comes highly recommended.

Another quality PMP from the Walkman stable the A845 excels at the job in hand. Yet, as always, support for FLAC audio and AVI video would have been welcome. Factor in the cost of a pair of noise cancelling earphones as a stand alone item and its quite good value too.

Moreover, the device packs a relatively large OLED display, which makes it absolutely great for viewing photos and videos.
