Cowon O2PMP Pro Reviews

Digital Trends‘s review Edit

The O2 is a very good digital media player, but it won’t meet everyone’s needs. It delivers fantastic sound, but it’s totally inappropriate for someone with a Rhapsody or Napster “to go” plan, for instance. And while it has a fabulous display, this 8GB model might not have enough room for more than a couple of films (although that SDHC slot is a welcome feature). Lastly, the large screen and broad file-format support render the O2 an exceptional photo viewer, but we’re miffed that we can’t use its TV-out function to present our work on the big screen.

Overall the O2 is a tidy package that offers excellent audio with an impressive degree of format support and control. Despite the rather basic design of the chassis it should provide some healthy competition for the other PMPs currently doing the rounds.

The O2 can handle a huge range of audio and video files, including Apple Lossless, WMA, OGG Vorbis, XviD and the current format of choice for video encoders, MKV.The O2 will appeal to those who require a solid, dependable and seriously versatile machine. However, more attractive options do exist.

The O2 is very much a game of two halves. Format and codec support is superb and it'll play pretty much any resolution video file you throw at it. The sound quality is excellent if a little on the quiet side, it is Biblically straightforward to use, and the ability to expand the storage is not to be sneezed at.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

Though it may not have internet browsing capabilities or much in the way of advanced features, the Cowon O2 is a solid portable media player. Thanks to its support for a wide range of file types, you'll spend less time trying to convert videos from one format to another and more time actually watching them.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

The Cowon O2 is a strong and versatile PMP with excellent file format support. It's short of advanced features and the GUI could do with some work, but if you have a large digital media library that you'd like to take on the move, it's a very good option.

The Cowon O2 supports an astonishing number of formats, but lack of ID3 tag support is disappointing.

computershopper‘s review Edit

The Cowon O2 lets you play video content on the go without the major hassle of converting files. But its basic interface and lack of file-tag support, as well as its audio-playback issues, make it more of a one-trick pony than the versatile PMP it should be.
