Toshiba Camileo S20 Pro Reviews

PC World‘s review Edit

For sheer bang for the buck, look no further than the fun-filled, 1080p-shooting Toshiba Camileo S20. It's unsurpassed in terms of features, but we've seen better usability and build quality.

reghardware‘s review Edit

When you consider what you get for your dosh, the Camileo S20 offers very good value for money. It’s compact, includes HD video, has loads of useful accessories and offers a pretty good performance. Non-Windows users would be wise to check thoroughly its compatibility, as the workarounds maybe too much bother. Yet those among the MS faithful looking for a budget HD pocket camcorder should certainly give this model some thought.

Engadget‘s review Edit

Indeed, we have our complaints about the S20's confusing interface and cluttered controls, but when you think about all the features (and accessories!) you get for $150 (on the street, anyway), it's hard to totally pooh-pooh it.

LAPTOP Magazine‘s review Edit

In designing the Camileo S20, its first pocket camcorder, Toshiba paid close attention to features, but not enough to details. For a reasonable $149, you get not just full HD resolution but optical zoom, an HDMI cable, and tripod. However, the S20 is more difficult to use and hold than it should be, and while the image quality is good it’s not the best.

A decent performer with a nice price and a good set of accessories. Shame about the clunky menu system though.

The Toshiba Camileo S20 is certainly a great-looking camcorder, and you’re likely to receive admiring glances after pulling it out of your pocket (unless you chose the pink version…). At around £150, it’s very reasonably priced, too, and this includes some worthwhile extras in the box such as the HDMI cable and tripod.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

Perhaps the biggest disappointment, though, is the overall quality. Full HD footage isn’t as sharp as you'd want it for viewing on your HD TV and the low light performance really lets the side down. With Full HD creeping into compact and DSLR cameras, pocket camcorders are facing a much tougher time of things and the offering made by the Toshiba Camileo S20 doesn't really make it stand out from the crowd.
