Garmin-Asus nuvifone M10 Pro Reviews

reghardware‘s review Edit

With Windows Phone 7 now very close to release, the timing of this Garmin Asus collaboration does seem a bit tardy. I’m holding my breath to see the A10 Android alternative, but if you’re more interested in having a dedicated satnav phone than the latest fashion in smartphones, then the Nüvifone M10 certainly offers more than most for this task.

GPS manufacturer Garmin has teamed up with Asus to bring out the nüvifone M10, a large-screened smartphone running Windows Mobile that comes with Garmin's satnav software plus a car cradle and charger. It's quite a chunky phone, being 14mm thick and weighing slightly more than the iPhone or HTC Desire, plus its rubberised casing makes it feel sturdy.

The M10 excels as a satellite navigation device and the impressive display is a joy to behold. Despite some grievances with the touch-sensitive screen and choice of operating system, this is still a tidy GPS-oriented handheld that ticks enough boxes to warrant a closer look.

HardwareZone‘s review Edit

The one bright spot for the M10 would have to be its battery performance, clocking in at 3.5 hours in our intensive video test and lasting more than a day for general usage. Such stats are important for those who require more usage time in a single seating. All things said, if you consider its price-performance ratio, the M10 isn't going to score that high, even with its very affordable price of S$638. Consider this - you get some sluggish feedback on the interface, but decent GPS features. If you're the firm believer of "what you get is what you pay for", you might want to give the M10 a look only if budget is your primary concern for a do-it-all device.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

At around £350 for a sat-nav with full Western European and some Eastern European maps, the Garmin-Asus nuvifone M10 isn't cheap compared to a standalone device, even one with connected services such as Garmin's nuvi 1690. However, it stacks up reasonably well compared to an Apple iPhone with a premium sat-nav app such as TomTom's, or even a top-end Android handset running Google Maps Navigation. So, as smartphones go, the M10 is relatively run-of-the mill. But it's decent value when the sat-nav abilities are taken into consideration, particularly the solid windscreen mount included in the box, and the navigation is well integrated, too.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

If your eye is taken by the idea of having a combined sat nav and smartphone all in one then the Garmin Asus Nüvifone M10 might be an interesting choice. There are enough extras to really differentiate it from Google Maps' navigation element, though whether they're expansive enough to lead you to shell out for them is really a matter for your personal choice. Certainly if you do a lot of walking you might prefer Google's offering.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

If you are in the unlikely situation of wanting a smartphone specifically for GPS, then the Garmin Asus Nuvifone M10 is a great buy. However, if GPS is your most important requirement, then dedicated GPS devices remain a better option, and there are better Windows Mobile phones around.
