ATI Radeon HD 5450 Pro Reviews

computershopper‘s review Edit

Those looking for an inexpensive way to add a little graphics muscle to a small desktop tower or media PC will find the Radeon HD 5450 enticing. But if you play demanding games, a larger, pricier card is a better buy.

hardocp‘s review Edit

The ATI Radeon HD 5450 is not meant to provide the best gaming experience, but it does bring DX11 API support and other features like Eyefinity (albeit useless to gamers) down to the $50 price point. This means that AMD now has a DX11 GPU in every market segment, while the competition simply does not.

HotHardware‘s review Edit

The Radeon HD 5450, in various configurations, should be available immediately from major on-line e-tailers with prices ranging from about $49 to $59. The Radeon HD 5450 obviously isn't for everyone. But if you've got the need for a silent, low-power, affordable graphics card, that will also fit into a half-height form factor, and gaming isn't a priority, the Radeon HD 5450 should fit the bill nicely.

Either way, if you are in the market for a low-end graphics card for an upgrade over an integrated graphics solution or for a new HTPC then the Radeon HD 5450 and HD 5570 will likely fit the bill pretty nicely. My favorite is probably the HD 5450 with its completely silent passive cooling solution and low power consumption along with the loss-less audio support and DisplayPort connectivity. This card will very likely find its way into a new HTPC for the house this winter.

TechSpot‘s review Edit

What makes these cards different to the Radeon HD 5450 is that you shouldn't expect to play games with a card in this price point. It wasn't possible before and that hasn't changed today. There is a limited market for HTPC builders who may like what the Radeon HD 5450 has to offer, especially in terms of form factor and power consumption, however we can't say other products that were already available can't perform the same job.

HEXUS‘s review Edit

The Radeon HD 5450 may well find a home in systems where multimedia excellence, and not 3D grunt, is the most enviable criterion. Class-leading multi-monitor setup and a robust video engine do it favours, and if partners can roll in passively-cooled cards that take up just one slot, HD 5450 has a future.

HardwareZone‘s review Edit

As our tests have shown, the most basic model of the Evergreen family, the Radeon HD 5450, is not ideal for any modern gaming. Despite the low settings we were using, the Radeon HD 5450 never once looked comfortable in our tests, generating frame rates well below the minimum threshold of 30fps. The final verdict on it is that it is perhaps more suited for crunching HD videos rather than 3D games.

Tom's Hardware‘s review Edit

The Radeon HD 5450 is certainly more impressive to those who don't necessarily care about gaming, but would give an arm and a leg for more computing desktop space. HTPC builders also have quite a bit to forward to.

tweaktown‘s review Edit

The HD 5450 is no doubt a great model for the right user. While that user might not be me, and it might not be you, it could be the next person or the one after that. ATI have done an almost perfect job when it comes to covering the market top to bottom. There's really only a few holes left and they're going to be filled soon with the HD 5500 series and the HD 5830.

No good for gaming but it can handle Blu-ray, and it's cheap and small enough for any media PC...
