Canon PowerShot SD1400 IS Pro Reviews

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

Its build quality and finish transcend the Canon IXUS 130's current bargain street price, meaning that anyone who gets their hands on it is more likely to reach for their wallet than hand it back to the shop assistant. That diminutive nature does mean that those with larger hands may actually find it too petite for comfort but otherwise it's an impressive feat of engineering. Along the same lines, this is most definitely a point and shoot camera, rather than one for the enthusiasts. Nevertheless, it produces more than acceptable results and is diverse enough for most everyday social photography. Indeed serves to show just how far phone cameras have to come before they're truly a viable alternative.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The Canon PowerShot SD1400 IS is a great choice if you want a very small camera that's easy to use and produces high-quality images. If you have big hands, though, the controls might be too tiny.

Canon’s IXUS 130 is a beautifully designed compact camera, but we expect better image quality at this price.

ITreviews‘s review Edit

Ixus cameras have always been aimed at the enthusiast and while the Ixus 130 offers more automation than earlier models, it's still capable of responding to somebody who likes to make manual settings. It'll slip into most pockets and while it isn't cheap, it offers a good specification and produces high quality stills and videos.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

It's not overly complex, it's easy to use, and it produces excellent quality images without requiring the photographer to understand everything that's going on. The build is slim and feels solid, the screen is good – in short, the 130 only strengthens the Ixus brand.

DigitalCameraReview‘s review Edit

Like its predecessor, I enjoyed spending time with the SD1400 IS. It's small, sleek and easily transportable, and has very good build quality. It takes nice-looking photos and movies and has many interesting features. It has a high-quality lens that takes sharp pictures with small amounts of distortion.

Camera Labs‘s review Edit

Canon's IXUS 130 / SD1400 IS improves upon its already desirable predecessor with a broader and wider zoom lens, enhanced Auto mode, and a series of clever self-timers triggered by a face, smile or wink. The screen's also slightly bigger than before and looks great at almost any angle, and you still get 720p HD video and an HDMI port to enjoy your photos and movies on an HDTV.

Without a doubt, the most powerful impression the Canon Ixus 130 compact digital camera leaves when taken out of the box is the visual one. Let's face it, this thing is small, thin, and quite good looking, especially if you've opted for one of more colorful versions (either orange or pink).

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

The Canon Digital IXUS 130 continues the long-standing IXUS tradition of small, stylish and well-built cameras, with the added benefit of being the slimmest model to date. The high price and merely average image quality do take some of the sheen off what is otherwise a very nice point-and-shoot.
