FujiFilm FinePix F80EXR Pro Reviews

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

The Fujifilm FinePix F80EXR is a compact 12Mp camera that offers more features than a standard compact. Its EXR sensor definitely helped while shooting in low light and it has good build quality with an ergonomic design. However, at £137 the camera is a shade on the costly side, and the overall image quality is only just good enough for casual photography.

On paper it’s the perfect compact camera – and it comes close to delivering – but image quality is actually worse than its predecessor

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

The Fujifilm FinePix F80EXR is an overall very good compact megazoom for its street price and size, though it's not without compromises.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The pocket-size Fujifilm FinePix F80EXR gives you enough zoom to get close to the action, and it takes some pretty impressive photos, but the user interface on this camera needs a serious overhaul.

ephotozine‘s review Edit

Fujifilm's EXR Super CCD is a novel idea that promises to allay many photographer's compact camera fears and that is does, although not completely. The extended Dynamic Range feature works really well. You can really see the difference with and with the feature enabled. The High ISO priority mode also works reasonably well, although I hoped for slightly better performance based on my experiences of the latest crop of compacts which promise to offer good low-light performance. In Resolution priority, fine detail can often be softened by strange JPEG-like artefacts, especially where there are a lot of high contrast edges in a small area.

Steve's Digicams‘s review Edit

FujiFilm's latest EXR FinePix model is a versatile compact camera. This unit has a lot to offer and packs a wealth of cool features inside of its body, including a powerful 10x wide angle zoom, Multi-frame technology, Dog/Cat detection, HD video mode, and much more. With good overall image quality, speedy performance, and a street price of $300 or less, we feel the FujiFilm FinePix F80EXR offers great "bang for your buck" when you consider the versatility and features you are receiving from such a compact package.

There are parts of the F80EXR to be marvelled at, mostly down to the excellent EXR chip and feature set. It does perform well in low light, but there are some downsides such as sluggish focus and overly aggressive pixel smoothing. The F80 EXR is certainly decent, but not quite as good as it could have been.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

Whilst not perfect in every area the Fujifilm F80EXR is a largely successful addition to the ranks of "high zoom" compacts. Whilst that sounds like feint praise, it's not meant to be. Indeed the camera surprised and delighted us in equal measure - and it's very rare that, what is another point and shoot compact, warrants such emoting.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

The Fujifilm F80EXR is a modest upgrade to last year's excellent F70EXR model, most notably adding more megapixels, a larger 3 inch LCD screen, HD movies, and face recognition. While all these new features make the F80EXR one of the best-specced cameras at its price-point, the 12 megapixel sensor delivers slightly worse image quality than its predecessor.
