Apple iPad Pro Reviews

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Much-wanted. And, yep, it's terrific – a tablet experience like nothing else we've seen. Even if you've used an iPhone, the iPad really is something you need to experience first-hand. And this iPad 3G version really opens up the possibilities for go-everywhere web surfing and tweeting.

This is an impressive debut for an ambitious new product direction for Apple. The iPad is a wholly new product, yet one that will be familiar to anyone who’s ever used an iPhone or iPod touch. It’s a futuristic gadget the likes of which we’ve never seen before, yet also a ‘version one’ that may soon be viewed with the same nostalgic amusement we have for the chunky original iPod.

The ease with which the Internet, applications, and communication is experienced without having to worry about the battery life, made a big impression on me. Of course you can simply claim that an iPad does the same things as a netbook or laptop. What does the iPad have that an iPhone doesn’t have? You can’t even make calls with it. However, the iPad does add something. It’s not for nothing that Steve Jobs said during the product presentation that the iPad doesn’t replace anything, but that it's a new segment of consumer electronics.

Apple's first tablet is a breakthrough for mobile computing, delivering the web, entertainment, and a new breed of apps in a way that feels almost effortless.

Integrated mobile broadband makes Apple’s excellent tablet much more useful on the go, but the additional expense doesn’t make sense for everyone.

As far as we're concerned, the iPad is yet another one of Apple’s huge successes, one of the main reasons being the fact that it manages to perfectly fit the whole consumerist trend found in the world's most developed countries. I mean, it's a device that pretty much targets those people who don't really care about specs or installing their own apps, but rather about the overall experience a device is able to provide. It's not something tech-savvy customers will use as a primary working device, but it is something they might employ during their leisure time, when they simply feel too lazy to fire up their notebooks.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

We've used it all over the house and the office. As a desk companion it's great, on the sofa it is also good as long as you acknowledge that you are using what amounts to a laptop. It's not got the same stigma, but it's not something you can sneakily look at while Mrs Pocket-lint isn't looking. Whilst I am happy to check emails and tweet from the toilet on the iPhone, I wasn't convinced about taking the iPad with me.

The picture quality of the Apple iPad's LED edge-lit LCD screen is excellent making this Wi-Fi device a great portable video player that can spin movies downloaded from iTunes as well as stream videos from YouTube and Netflix. I only wish the screen was larger than 9.7". Then again, I've yet to see a 40" HDTV that can run 150,000 apps like SoundHound or Pocket Pond.

HotHardware‘s review Edit

What the iPad does do, it does extremely well. Web browsing is extremely quick (along with everything else), it's enjoyable to use, the battery life (10 hours or so) is fantastic and it can definitely go where even some netbooks cannot. Unfortunately, it's pretty much a coffee tablet/travel companion right now, but as the App Store expands and (hopefully) as iPhone OS 4.0 comes to light, the iPad's utility will likely increase.

Apple’s iPad reimagines the personal computer as an intuitive, slick and portable device that sprouts new features and uses with every additional app.

AnandTech‘s review Edit

Apple drew a line in the sand with the iPad. It set expectations for performance, price point, usability, ergonomics, display and quality of apps. It's rare that Apple does this. Normally Apple capitalizes on the mistakes of those who came before it by using failure as a blueprint for success. The fact that Apple is taking a different route with the iPad does say something about where Apple views this business going.

PC Pro‘s review Edit

It's no laptop replacement, but there is an argument for it as a secondary device. If you can live with the flaws, you'll find a beautiful gadget that manages to be that rare thing: a piece of technology that's fun.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

Let us start by saying this: Apple has not created anything new with the iPad, just like they didn’t create anything new with the iPod or iPhone. If you look at it, Apple rarely creates something new, they simply take an old idea, let it establish a niche in the marketplace ...

A difficult-to-pinpoint target customer and a few pesky omissions are overshadowed by the excellent overall experience you get with Apple's iPad. And it sets the bar high for competing products in this nascent Internet tablet category.
